web applications - Help emulating Heroku, GAE, etc : Building a web service privately (PaaS) -

i'm not 1 question, haven't found lot of information in research far, me out.

we small crowd in organization. we're looking build small, private service emulate heroku/gae workflow. basics of this: deploy app git repository, , have scale in 'cloud' environment. basically, platform service (paas).

pretend amateur pm's, programmers, , sysadmins tasked this. recommend? know needed: sort of routing, database, caching, authentication, etc. other tools need?

we prefer tools along ruby/python/haskell/erlang dimension, on linux/bsd stack, postgres databases(couchdb or cassandra in future). not touching in ms/.net area, nothing on jvm (we've looked @ steamcannon, no; scala , clojure tools not entirely out of question). have basic grasp of bootstrapping cloud (e.g. eucalyptus) build on. have understanding of basics in server admin, , physical infrastructure limitations aren't factor right now.

we're not looking why gaerokuyardspace best choice, list of such services, why should ditch our plans 1 of these services, or argument against plan. situation decision has been made cost build privately more attractive cost of deploying elsewhere. know why , how these services. we're looking emulate , build upon these private needs.

a short list of tools expanded:

  • beehive
  • steamcannon
  • gitosis/gitolite
  • ?

basically, i'd generate list of tools building heroku/gae service on small, private, experimental/toy level.

i don't know meet of stated needs today, should take @ cloud foundry vmware. can check faq commercial project or in open source version can host , manage yourself.
